2018 South Pacific

Welcome to the Miskatonic University 2018 South Pacific Expedition!

The 2018 South Pacific expedition is intended to let us learn more about one of the most remote and inaccessible areas of the Earth. Three scientists from Miskatonic University and their teams are planning to spend several months in the region.

The teams on the expedition:

  • Dr. Kalen Ferris: Marine Biology – Dr. Ferris will be collecting DNA samples from aquatic species in an attempt to build up a better picture of how those species have spread across the ocean.
  • Dr. Atiya Parimala: Gravitational Physics – Dr. Parimala and her team are distributing a series of sensitive buoys in order to build up a better model of the Earth’s own gravitational field. This will allow better gravitational readings from sensors around the world and in orbit by allowing a greater understanding of the influence of our own planet on those readings.
  • Dr. Andrew Stepherson: Cultural Anthropology – Dr. Stepherson’s goal is to contact some of the more isolated islands in Polynesia in an attempt to gain a better understanding as to how cultural ideas, mores, and myths spread and develop among semi-isolated populations.

Discoveries made on the expedition, as well as the day-to-day life on such an endeavor, are being relayed back to the world by Dr. Ferris, who has kindly volunteered to take on this additional work. Our thanks to Dr. Ferris.
