A Beautiful Day in the Pacific

The first thing I did this morning was to check the comments on yesterday’s post to see if Dr. Pickman had commented anything. He hadn’t. Dr. Pickman, seriously… You’re wanting me to do this for some reason. Tell me why! What is so important about this! Otherwise, I’ll just stop posting these!

Actually… I’ll do that. You want me to keep this blog up? Give me a reason!

  1. Dr. Ferris,

Actually… Kalen. Can I call you Kalen? Yes. I misled you somewhat but… I have a few questions of my own.

Like… why didn’t you just e-mail me? You could have. Of course, if you tried, I wouldn’t have responded that way, but you didn’t. Apparently, you want to make this a public thing too?

Don’t worry, the e-mails the others on the ship are getting back are… edited. Not enough that they will notice, but they aren’t aware of things happening in the outside world. Just you.

Very well, you want to know ‘what is going on.’

You have a unique group of people on board the Arkham. And I use the word ‘unique’ correctly. Not just rare. Not just unusual. Unique. As in, there is no one living today like the group you are part of.

And you are an essential part.

Dr. Stepherson knows what is going on. Dr. Parimala… Atiya… has an… idea as to what is going on.

Don’t confront her. Not yet. I… Believe that she will reveal what she knows to you in her own time. Actually, I am confident that she will. In the meantime…? Enjoy her company.

And I would recommend against your plan to stop at the Efforan seamount to check out your minisub. It works, both of us know that; you’re just bored and want something to do.

You will have plenty to do when you reach Paloma. Trust me.

And you need to get to Paloma. When you get there, you will know what to do. You will have learned enough by then to make the correct choice.

I trust you to make the correct choice. I trust you. And I’m sorry, you will just have to accept that. I know you will hate it. But… I cannot explain why.

And I know that sounds… vague. I’m sorry but… I can’t say more. Again, it will all make sense by then. You will understand. But this is the last time I will be able to say anything to you. This is my final… push?

Use your best judgment. I trust you. I trust the people with you. I know the ones who will support you. There are more of them than you expect. Everything that has led to this expedition has led to it for a reason. The… “trigger” is primed. But only you can pull it.

I trust you. That is the only thing I can say.

I won’t respond again. I can’t. When you are back in Arkham, I will explain over many drinks. Though I am sure you will have figured it out by then.

    Good luck, Kalen.
